High Lonesome

Ear Grabbing Modern Bluegrass W/ Heart & Grit

Named to Denver Westword’s “Ten of the Top Colorado Bluegrass Bands” list in both 2024 and 2025, High Lonesome has quickly established themselves as one of the Front Range’s most exciting bluegrass acts. Storyteller-in-chief, Chuck Sitero leads the band delivering tight harmonies, original songwriting, and a hard-driving sound rooted in tradition                        but unafraid to explore jazz, jam, and beyond.

Their debut album, released in 2024, was awarded Best Bluegrass Album in Denver Westword’s 2025 “Best of Denver” awards, cementing High Lonesome’s reputation as a standout voice in Colorado’s legendary bluegrass scene.

With a new album in the works, High Lonesome will continue to bring fresh energy to the local and national bluegrass scene, offering audiences both the comfort of tradition and the thrill of something new.

On their debut album, High Lonesome explores the boundaries of what bluegrass music can be in today’s world. While sticking to traditional elements such as instrumentation, tight vocal harmonies, and song structure, High Lonesome is able to deliver a new spin on bluegrass and acoustic music. This album lyrically explores themes of sadness and frustration with tracks like “Savage Sundown” and “Worn Out Shoes” and chances for new growth, healing, and self-reliance as showcased in “We Hit the Road” and “Trust My Hands”. There is no shortage of instrumental beauty on this record not only in the album’s instrumental track “Jubilee” but in the solos, composed lines, and drive each member brings to their sound.

While original material is at the forefront of this record, the band selected a few covers to add including a previously unreleased Louisa Branscomb song “Old Familiar Song” which fits right in with the other tracks. The songs on this album are packed with unique arrangements, explosive instrumental work, and catchy but sincere songwriting that showcases the seriousness of these musicians and their work.
